# General Settings

The General Settings page is used to for settings that are used in multiple places in Mooberry Book Manager.

**Show Placeholder Cover On**

Mooberry Book Manager uses a placeholder cover in places where a book does not have a book cover set. This option lets you turn the placeholder image on or off for Book Pages and Widgets.

**Placeholder Cover Image**

This is where you can set the actual image used for the placeholder cover. Mooberry Book Manager comes pre-installed with a default placeholder cover.

**Book Cover Ribbons**

You can choose to have ribbons displayed on the corner of you books if they are Coming Soon (not yet published) or New (recently published). Whether a book is considered Coming Soon or New is based on the **Release Date** you have entered for the book (NOT the date you enter it into Wordpress).

The ribbon will look like this:

**Show COMING SOON RIbbon on Corner of Book Cover?**

Here you can select where you want the ribbons to display on books: On the book page, on books in the sidebar widgets, or books in book grids. You can choose as many as you want, including none if you do not want any ribbons on your books.

**Color of COMING SOON Ribbon**

This is the background color of the ribbon.

**Text Color of the COMING SOON Ribbon**

This is the color of the text of the ribbon.

**Show NEW RIbbon on Corner of Book Cover?**

Here you can select where you want the ribbons to display on books: On the book page, on books in the sidebar widgets, or books in book grids. You can choose as many as you want, including none if you do not want any ribbons on your books.

**Color of NEW Ribbon**

This is the background color of the ribbon.

**Text Color of the NEW Ribbon**

This is the color of the text of the ribbon.

**Number of Days to Display NEW RIbbon**

The NEW ribbon will be displayed on books for this many days **after the books' release date.**

**Pop-Up Cards When Hovering on Book Cover**

You can choose to have a pop-up display book information when your mouse rolls over the book cover in a book grid or on a widget,  as shown here:

**Use Pop-up Card?**

You can choose to turn this feature on or off.

If the feature is turned on, you may select up to 3 fields to display in the pop-up card. Drag and drop the fields to put them into the order you want them to display.

**NOTE:** If you have the [Custom Fields extension](https://mooberrydreams.gitbook.io/mooberry-book-manager-v5/settings/mooberry-book-manager.helpscoutdocs.com/category/102-custom-fields) installed, you can also choose custom fields to display.

**Background Color of Pop-Up**

Choose the color of the background for the pop-up card

**Text Color of Pop-up card**

Choose the text color of the pop-up card

**Width of Pop-up Card**

Enter the desired width of the pop-up card in pixels
